Power to the People
I had off yesterday, so Maria and I decided to go out to lunch while Bridget was at Girl Scout camp. The night before there was an interesting story in the local paper about a BBQ place a few towns over, so we decided to try it out.
First off, the food was good. Really good. My pork was outstanding. The fries were very fresh. Her cheesesteak was OK, but I think it’s a matter of staying with the BBQ stuff if you want something really good.
Anyway, the real reason we went there was to play a little role in pissing off the people who live near the place. The reason the paper had a story on the place was because neighbors are worried about the smoker they keep on the sidewalk outside the place.
“My quality of life has been diminished,” (Doris Sabine) told (East Berlin Borough) council.
Oh, please. She says she loves their food, but is worried about the safety of children because of the smoker. Some other neighbors had similar whiny complaints.
We couldn’t believe the fuss when we saw the place. The smoker is on the edge of the sidewalk by the street. There’s plenty of room to get by, and it looks cool. Besides, it’s been there for three years and no one has been hurt so Doris and her old lady friends should just lighten up.
