We witnessed a very special piece of history on Tuesday with the inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the Unites States. He spread his message of change and hope and unity in his inaugural address.

But I think he needs to know that the most important step toward unity is right under our eyes. We are already enjoying it in the conference rooms and break rooms in offices across the nation.

Nothing brings us together like the half-yellow, half-chocolate sheet cake.

Jerry Seinfeld tried to tell us 15 years ago that the black and white cookie would bring everyone together, but he was mistaken. The black and white cookie is meant for one person. The yellow/chocolate cake can please many people at the same time.

I think we underestimate the power of this special cake. I salute the bakeries across the nation spreading this message of unity and hope. They are truly great Americans.
