My Story

I often struggled with how to answer the question “What do you do?” I had my jobs over the years, but I also had many other interests. People would sometimes pigeonhole me into one of them – the sports guy, the journalist, the TV watcher.

Now, I provide a simple answer – I do words and pictures. Mainly, I do them on stage as an improviser with Highwire Improv, an organization I founded in 2020 to bring a new vision to the art form in Baltimore, Md. But I also do them in my Football Manager gaming videos and in my various kinds of writing. I have done them in scripted theater as well.

I love finding ways to communicate ideas that will entertain and educate people. I can help you with this by teaching improv classes or editing your work or helping your produce videos or podcasts. Just ask me if you want to work on an idea together. Otherwise, enjoy my work.

Oh, and the image of me diving into the ocean? Those are three of my great nieces and nephews – they are much older now. To keep them occupied on my huge family’s annual summer beach trip, I created a game for them. Part of it involved running to the water and doing a belly flop. As we approached, the waves receded. They were actually much smarter than me and held up. As you can see, I did my belly flop with full gusto. I only ended up with a few scratches from this effort. My niece’s husband (father of one of these kids) thankfully is a great photographer and captured the image perfectly. Some of the little ones in the family try to get me to recreate this every summer. My wife is not a fan of that request. I have mainly retired from belly flops. Getting old stinks.
