That Thing You Do!

I don’t know why, but I just can’t pass up watching this movie whenever I see it on cable. I’m a sucker for the story on the “one-hit” Wonders.

I think the simplicity of the story and the clever way the actors pull it off suck me in every time. I also love it because the story kind of informed the novel I have been working on for, well, I’m not going to say exactly how many years. Perhaps my favorite thing about the movie is the fact that the actors actually played their own instruments.

Music can really serve as a platform for so many other forms of media. That is why I really want to get back to the “final” revisions of my novel so I can see if it will ever end up in print. Maybe I can be a one-hit wonder.

As a 60s pop geek, I love this movie, too. But the character of Lamar, the bellboy at the Ambassador Hotel, is positively embarrassing.

Come on, young squire, why would you say that?

    🙂

Yeah, that was a pretty weak addition.
